The first step in creating giclee prints. Digital Picture uses the Dicomed BetterLight Scan Back Digital Camera, capable of capturing images exceeding 100MB of RGB. Using the digital file created from the scan, we are able to produce a variety of sizes that can be printed on a number of different materials, including canvas prints in excess of 60”x120”.
Even after 16 years Digital Picture still has a steady demand for scanning services. This is especially true when clients have older projects that were originally shot on transparency or negative film. We use the Scitex Eversmart flatbed scanner to produce high resolution digital files from flat artwork, negative film and 35mm slides.
Color correction and Proofing is the second and certainly one of the most important steps in creating giclee prints (as well as ALL of the prints we do at Digital Picture). Our staff works with our customers to ensure that the colors are correct and matched as best as possible to the original. We then print a proof to compare to the original to confirm that all color and detail expectations are met. Although in most cases only one proof and color correction is needed, Digital Picture does not limit our customers to a specific number. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible print, even if that means multiple proofs to ensure your satisfaction.
